How the degree is structured
The B.Tech is credit-based across eight semesters. First year is largely common — mathematics, physics or chemistry, basic electrical or mechanics, programming, drawing and workshop — before you move into branch courses from second year. Departmental electives and open electives arrive later and are where you get to shape the degree.
- Attendance requirements are real and enforced at the department level.
- Mid-semester and end-semester weightage varies by course; check the handout in week one.
- Labs carry credits. Missing lab records is the most common avoidable damage to a SGPA.
- The ordinances on the institute site are the authority on credits, grading and attendance.
